Stars of the Year

Today we had our final star of the week. The whole school received the peer supporter certificate for being kind and caring friends on the yard, the sports award for supporting each other in every sporting event and each class had star of the week for being AWESOME. We have had a fantastic year fill with many successes.
We would like to wish Mr Smith good luck in his new job and Mrs Mathias as she embarks on her retirement.
Thank you to you as parents for the support through the year. We would like to wish you a happy and safe Summer. Continue reading

Race For Life

Rain stopped play today! But we celebrated our yearly Race for Life with an assembly discussing all about how we can support people with cancer. We even had special visitors come to the school to celebrate the event – Our Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, our chair of Governors and the Evening Post.
We will be running tomorrow for the race for life, hoping to collect sponsors for this amazing cause, so far we have raised £500. Thank you for your support. Continue reading

We do like to be beside the seaside!

Look out Aberavon here comes Pontlliw primary!

Bags packed, registers taken, sandwiches checked, buckets and spades in hand, and we were off!

It was a fantastic day and the weather was kind to us too…..

We dug, paddled, run, played football, and frizbee.

After the first round of fun we sat for our lunch, even with the avid onlooking seagulls, waiting for an opportunity of a crumb here and there. Soon we were up again for more sand castles and the second half of the footie!

A lovely day had by all!

Practical Spelling in Year 2

The children have been making the most of the beautiful weather and enjoyed working outdoors to practise this week’s spelling words. As you can see, they children worked extremely hard before coming back inside for a well earned cool down!
