  • Safety Soldiers Meeting

    This week the Safety Soldiers pupil voice group worked on gathering ideas for improving road safety outside our school. The children discussed the issues and how unsafe parking affects different people. They came up with some fantastic ways to improve road safety, and will be working on them in the coming weeks.

    P.C. Parry visited Year 1 today to help us learn more about the role of the emergency services. We found out about the important and essential roles that they play and even got to try on some of the uniform. Thank you P.C Parry.

  • The Rugby Team’s First Game

    What an amazing effort by our rugby team in their first ever game! They lost 6 tries to 3 to a very good St Joseph’s team. They should all be very proud. We have another 2 games next Tuesday at Cwm Level Park against Plasmarl and Clwyd!

    What an absolutely stunning night we’ve had, singing songs around the camp fire, roasting marshmallows and admiring the sunset.

  • Bodyboarding and Orienteering Group 1

    The children have had yet another successful day and have achieved so much. They’ve thoroughly enjoyed bodyboarding and orienteering. Curry and chips for tea then a camp fire and marshmallows on the beach under the starts.

  • Fabulous Faces!

    Reception have been exploring the features on their faces, we looked at some faces without eyes and mouths, the children decided that we needed both to work out how we feel. We had some fun creating our own faces using pumpkins and biscuits, yummy!

  • Planning the Future

    This afternoon 2 members of our Health and Well-being group attended a planning meeting at Pontardullais Comp in preparation for the transition project in the Summer.

    Reception and Nursery have met again! Not to get up to any trouble but to complete activities all about ‘Stickman’. We have listened to the story, so set to work making ‘Stickmen’ out of sticklebricks, sticks and even created some rainbow art.. Take a look at our pictures!

    Every week, we practise our fine motor skills. This week, we focused on scissor skills and cut out lots of different patterned pants, linked to our story of Charlie’s Superhero Underpants. We then used our maths skills too and had the challenge of making a repeating pattern using the different designs.

  • Transition Planning

    This afternoon Year 6 have been taking a lead in their learning in preparation for their transition project in the Comprehensive in the Summer. The topic of the project is Health and Well-being. They need to plan under the headings: Physical, Mental and Social. The planning stage is underway and pupils are extremely excited.

  • Spreading the ‘love’

    In our science topic this year, Year 6 are studying Micro-organisms. Today we tested our knowledge, using Kahoot, and the winners were congratulated with a germ infected handshake (green glitter). Other pupils then congratulated them to see how far we could spread the germs. Pupils were amazed as to how far germs can spread!

  • Tap, Tap, Tap!

    The Nursery children had a great time today. To develop their hand eye coordination and fine motor skills, they hammered golf tees into a melon! They were very careful and put their safety googles on first. What fun!

  • Fabulous Fresh Fruit Kebabs.

    Our number of the week this week was three, so the children made some healthy fruit kebabs using three different fruits. They chose from a selection of fruit including; apples, strawberries, kiwi, tangerines, bananas and pineapple. What a healthy snack! They tasted delicious too.
