- Natural Symmetrical Butterflies
Year 2 have really enjoyed learning about lines of symmetry. The children then worked outside to apply their knowledge and skills by creating symmetrical butterflies using natural materials. The children could explain how to make their art work symmetrical, looking at position, colour and shape.

- Fabulous Faces!
Reception have been exploring the features on their faces, we looked at some faces without eyes and mouths, the children decided that we needed both to work out how we feel. We had some fun creating our own faces using pumpkins and biscuits, yummy!

- Super Problem Solving Skills
Year 2s have further developed their super problem solving skills this week. They improved their understanding of the problem solving steps, and enjoyed trying the ‘make it simpler’ strategy when working on the focus activities.
- Owl Collages
This week the Year 2s enjoyed making beautiful collages of owls using natural materials. They discussed the different shades of the leaves and which materials would be best suited to the different parts of their owl pictures. I’m sure you’ll agree that the finished collages looked wonderful.
- Super Shadow Puppets!
Today the Year 2s enjoyed finding out about shadows. They made some fantastic shadow puppets of the characters from our focus story ‘Owl Babies’, and then used them to make shadows. The children even worked out how to make the shadows smaller and bigger. Gwaith ardderchog!

- Transition Planning
This afternoon Year 6 have been taking a lead in their learning in preparation for their transition project in the Comprehensive in the Summer. The topic of the project is Health and Well-being. They need to plan under the headings: Physical, Mental and Social. The planning stage is underway and pupils are extremely excited.
- Tap, Tap, Tap!
The Nursery children had a great time today. To develop their hand eye coordination and fine motor skills, they hammered golf tees into a melon! They were very careful and put their safety googles on first. What fun!
- Fabulous Fresh Fruit Kebabs.
Our number of the week this week was three, so the children made some healthy fruit kebabs using three different fruits. They chose from a selection of fruit including; apples, strawberries, kiwi, tangerines, bananas and pineapple. What a healthy snack! They tasted delicious too.

After an emotional leavers assembly, Year 6 celebrated their efforts with a trip to the local shop to buy treats and quality time spent with friends at the park. It’s been quite a phenomenal year! We are going to miss your children so much.

The Year 2 children made some excellent junk model lighthouses this week. They were set the task of designing and creating model lighthouses that were at least 25cm high, with a working door and a light at the top.
