Today, the Year 3’s were visited by PC Parry. She talked to the children about how they can stay safe on the Internet and how to be ‘SMART’ online. The children explored different online scenarios through watching an animated film and discussed whether or not the choices made by the characters were the right ones to make.
The children now know that they can use the acronym ‘SMART’ when staying safe online:
Safe – never give out personal information when online
Meet – never arrange to meet up with anyone you play or talk with online
Accept – never accept messages from people you don’t know online
Reliable – only chat to family and friends who you know in the real world
Tell – talk to a trusted adult if someone is sending you nasty messages
