The nursery children made their very own miniature beach. They learned about the different states of matter by making jelly to represent the sea. They learned that they can dissolve the jelly into a liquid, then as it sets it turns back into a solid. They then crushed biscuits to represent the sand and even had a little jelly man sunbathing on the top! It tasted delicious too!
Today the nursery children have been very busy learning all about shapes. They cut out shapes and used them to make pictures, used magnetic shapes to build, threaded bolts through circular washers and nuts, and made different shape sandwiches. We even danced to the Mr Maker shape song!
Today the children have been learning about rainbows. The children learned all about the lovely colours and participated in a range of rainbow and raindrop themed activities. They chalked some lovely rainbows onto black card and finger painted a rainbow picture. They played parachute games with a rainbow coloured parachute, did some messy colour mixing, played in some sparkly water and even had time to make a lovely rainbow cake. What a busy morning!
We’ve had lots of fun again in nursery this week. We had a musical morning out in the sunshine, where we played along to our favourite songs. We learned all about shadows and light in our new dark den and brought out our dressing up box. Our special sound of the week was ‘y’, so we made some yummy yoghurt smoothies. We even had some visitors! One of our dads brought in some tadpoles. We look forward to watching them change into frogs.
The weather was a little bit too wet for us to go outside first thing this morning but it didn’t stop our fun. We made edible mud pies, worm paintings using string instead of paintbrushes and even threaded Cheerios on to string and straws to make giant worms. We coloured Superworm pictures and designed our very own superhero pants! The sun eventually came out and we were able to have a little play outside before home time.
What a busy week we have had in nursery! The children have been making the most of the sunshine and playing outside on the bikes, scooters and Thomas the Tank Engine. Welly Wednesday was all about minibeasts, so they joined the reception class to listen to poems about creepy crawlies before going outside on a minibeast hunt. They also made some lovely ladybird biscuits using raisins for the spots. As our special sound of the week was ‘v’ they made some healthy vegetable wraps
Our special sound of the week this week is ‘w’, so the nursery children made some delicious waffles. First we toasted the waffles then the children chose from a selection of tasty toppings. Yummy! Then they went outside to do some weaving. They threaded some brightly coloured ribbon through the fence in the nursery yard. The yard looks nice and colourful now.
