The nursery children have started their Christmas cooking. They decided they wanted to make an edible Rudolf. First we thought of ideas of what we could use, and come up with the idea of using chocolate tea cakes and curlywurlys, with a red smartie for the nose. Don’t they look amazing!
The nursery children have been learning all about circles so we decided to make circular food. Last week we toasted bagels and this week we made apple slices topped with cream cheese and sprinkles. Delicious!
What a busy couple of days we have had with all our firework themed activities. We made lovely glittery firework pictures, designed our own bonfire night rocket, made fireworks out of sparkly play dough, made big firework pictures outside using different coloured chalks and we played firework pairs and number matching games. We even had time to make an edible breadstick sparkler. Delicious!
We have been having lots of fun in ‘Fun Club’. Our activities include: cooking, painting, crafts, football, iPads and Crome books, board games, and music and dancing. Just have a look at the photos to see how much fun we have.
The nursery and reception children have had a busy morning participating in lots of pumpkin themed activities. First of all they listened to the story “Pumpkin Soup” before going outside for lots of pumpkin fun. They hammered pegs into pumpkins, made pumpkin collages, made pumpkins out of play dough, and sponge painted bowls to look like pumpkins. They even had a “Roll the pumpkin” competition to see who could roll their pumpkin the furthest! To finish the morning off they had a nice bowl of soup to warm them up. Delicious!
This half term, our non-fiction writing genre is instructional writing, so this week I thought it would be a great idea to see how well the children could follow instructions in order to make an Egyptian Mummy biscuit. They all did an awesome job and they looked fantastic! After making the biscuits, the children wrote their own instructions explaining the steps needed to make and decorate an Egyptian Mummy biscuit. They made sure they included all of the features we have been learning about, such as bossy verbs and time connectives. What a fantastic effort by all of the children – I hope your biscuits tasted as good as they looked! Well done boys and girls!
This week, we have been using the story ‘Charlie’s Superhero Underpants’ as a basis for some of our work. One of the children suggested that we create our own underpants designs using gingerbread men. What a fantastic and fun idea! The children enjoyed using the icing and ingredients to create their own design…and I imagine they loved eating them too! Continue reading →
The nursery children teamed up with reception to go on a bear hunt. They looked all around the school yard for clues. They looked on the climbing frame, the stage, in the little houses and in the construction area, and there he was hiding up a tree! You found him! Da iawn pawb! To celebrate finding him, we made some delicious bear biscuits. Yummy!
As part of our topic, ‘Toy Story: The History of Toys’, we have been looking at the Disney film ‘Toy Story’. The nursery children found the little green aliens very funny, so we decided to make our very own alien biscuits. Don’t they look amazing!
