Ice Investigation

The nursery children carried out a science investigation today. The questions they wanted to find the answers to were: What does ice feel like?  What happens to it? Does it float?  They had great fun finding out! They even used a magnifying glass to examine the ice in detail. They also used their fine motor skills to make a snowman. They used tongs and chopsticks to pick up cotton wool balls and put them into a snowman shaped jar. Have a look; they look amazing!

Learning about our ‘Special Sound of the Week’.

We have really busy in nursery today learning about our special sound. We completed a range of phonic activities on the iPads, made the letter ‘a’ out of  ‘Wikki stix’, wrote the letter in shaving foam and finger painted it too. We even went outside to practise our letter formation with chalk.

Nursery’s Treasure Hunt.

As part of our Children in Need activities, Mrs Keegan kindly organised a treasure hunt. The nursery children were very excited as they were able to look all around  the school for clues. The year 6 children helped the little ones to follow the map and to find the final clue that spelt ‘Pudsey’. Thank you Mr Keegan and year 6, we had a wonderful time.

Year 4 weekly roundup!

Blwyddyn Pedwar have had a great week working on lots of interesting things! We have been working hard planning our bank robbery newspaper articles, along with learning some line dancing moves to challenge our 2 left feet!

Also, after learning a little bit about Native Americans and their way of life, we have spent some time making dream catchers which will hopefully go up on display soon.

Finally, after a lot of reminding (nagging!) the classroom is nearly ready for a class pet. There is a fish tank, with water and some gravel. Something important is missing though, although we can’t think what?

We’re Going On A Bear Hunt!

The nursery children teamed up with reception to go on a bear hunt. They looked all around the school yard for clues. They looked on the climbing frame, the stage, in the little houses and in the construction area, and there he was hiding up a tree! You found him! Da iawn pawb! To celebrate finding him, we made some delicious bear biscuits. Yummy!
