This half terms non-fiction literacy focus in Year 5 is instructional writing. The children were able to recall all the features of an instructional text, by remembering their tasks from previous years! We talked through examples of each feature and then put our knowledge into action. The children were tasked with leading their blind folded partner safely through an obstacle course by using time connectives, adverbs and bossy verbs. We had lots of fun and realised that we need to work on time connectives and adverbs as we often forgot to include them when instructing our partner.
