World Mental Health Day 2025

On Monday, 6th October, our Healthy Heroes led a fantastic assembly in celebration of World Mental Health Day. They introduced our whole-school kindness theme with enthusiasm, inspiring everyone to spread positivity. As part of their initiative, they designed thoughtful Kindness Bingo Boards and gave one to each class, encouraging everyone to take small, meaningful actions to make others feel valued and supported throughout the school. It was a wonderful start to our kindness journey.

Children's Mental Health Week 2026

We had a wonderful week celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week with the theme “This Is My Place”, focusing on belonging and wellbeing. We began with ‘Come as Yourself’ Day, where pupils wore outfits that made them feel confident and proud. Teachers led thoughtful activities exploring mental health, while our Healthy Heroes introduced First Aid for Feelings Boxes in every classroom, filled with calming tools and positive messages. Pupils also wrote thank‑you letters to local businesses and residents, recognising the ways they help make our village a welcoming and special place to live. We ended the week with a joyful Walk and Wave around the village. It was lovely to see so many members of the community come out to wave, smile, and cheer us on - a beautiful reminder of the strong, supportive place we all belong to.

Spring Term 2026

15.01.26: Meeting 1

Today’s Focus:

  1. Anti-bullying Policy/Questionnaire: We worked with a partner to think of information that we could put in our child friendly anti bullying policy. We then thought of questions that we wanted to put in a questionnaire to find out how children in our school feel about bullying and ideas of how we could make our school a safe and happy place for everyone.

  2. Children’s Mental Health Week: We talked about making a first aid kit for feelings box for all classes. Inside it will have things that might help you calm down. Then on a piece of paper, we wrote down our ideas of what we could put in the first aid kit, like bubble wands, stress ball, mindfulness colouring sheets etc.

Next Step: Give out posters with QR code to all classes.

29.01.26: Meeting 2

Today’s Focus:

  1. First Aid for Feelings Box: We went into groups and decided what items we would like to put in our feelings box. There were lots of things for us to choose to help us feel calm, like fidget toys, soft toys, feelings chart, playdough, mirror and music links. We made our own glitter jars and stress balls and made breathing wands for the infants using pipe cleaners and beads.

  2. Anti-Bullying Policy: Mrs. Bennett worked with a group of us to finish off our anti bullying policy. We made sure we were happy with all of the information inside. Then, we typed up an email to parents telling them about the policy we have developed.

Next Steps: To send the email to parents. To give out the first aid for feelings box to all classes. We will do this during children's mental health week.

  1. Children’s Mental Health Week Assembly: Year 6 children presented a short assembly to the whole school about Mental Health Week, and the theme ‘This is My Place’. Healthy Heroes showed the First Aid for Feelings Boxes they had made and briefly explained what they are for.

Next Steps: Healthy Hero representatives from each class to show their peers what is inside their first aid for feelings box and how the items are to be used. Agree a place to keep the first aid for feelings box in class.

11.03.26: Meeting 3

Today’s Focus

  1. Questionnaire Results & Action Plan: Mrs. Bennett worked with a group of children to discuss the results of the questionnaire that we sent out about bullying. The results were very interesting, and we were quite surprised at some of the responses. It seems like the junior toilets are an issue. We made notes on things we think we need to do next.

  2. Ready, Respectful, Safe: In groups, we brainstormed ideas of how we could improve behaviour in our school under the headings ready, respectful and safe. We came up with lots of good ideas, and we recorded them on a sheet.

  3. Red Nose Day: We talked about Comic Relief and shared some ideas of how we could celebrate it in school. We are going to wear anything red and bring in a donation. In pairs, we made posters telling everyone what we have planned.

Next Steps: To work with Mrs. Bennett to create an action plan on the results of the questionnaire. Put up the posters we have made for Red Nose Day around the school and in all classrooms. To send an email to parents telling them about our plans for Red Nose Day.
