Today, Dosbarth Cherry Blossom looked at the book ‘The Doorbell Rang’ to help them understand the concept of division. In the story the children have to share cookies between their friends but every time the doorbell rang, more friends came to visit and the children had to work out how many cookies each person could have. Dosbarth Cherry Blossom used little plastic people, and multilink cubes to represent cookies and they had to decide the best way to share the cookies making sure it was fair and equal. They used their subitising skills to give the little people three each until they had shared them all. They were super clever and realised that when there were lots of little people there wasn’t enough for three each, so they kept trying different amounts until the cakes had been shared out equally. Amazing sharing! Well done!
