This week the Year 2 children have enjoyed developing their own fireworks poems. They began by looking at onomatopoeia, using words such as pop, whizz, bang and whoosh to create their own fantastic shape poems. Some children used their ICT skills effectively and made their poems on Hwb, others worked together using glitter and letter stampers to make a beautiful group shape poem, whilst others got creative and experimented with different styles of writing. Later in the week, the children learned all about Acrostic poems, and enjoyed making group acrostic poems based on fireworks and bonfire night. They built on previous learning, and considered their choice of words, deciding to use powerful, descriptive vocabulary. Super poetry skills were shown by all pupils!
