Today Dosbarth Beech enjoyed a very festive visit to Swansea museum and the Waterfront museum, as the exit point for our big question, ‘Why do we celebrate?’ We started in Swansea museum listening to stories which told us where different Christmas traditions came from, and we thoroughly enjoyed joining in with drama activities where we had to act out the stories. We also looked at toys that children would have been given at Christmas in the past. Then we moved on to the Waterfront museum where we learned all about what Christmas in Wales used to be like, looking at decorations and crafts from long ago. Finally, we finished off the day with watching Dylan Thomas’s ‘Child’s Christmas in Wales’, which showed us what Christmas in Swansea was like when Dylan Thomas was a child. What a fun-filled, festive day we have had!
