Wonderful Wishes in Year 1

As part of our learning about Chinese New Year, we have been finding out about the ‘Wishing Tree’ tradition which began hundreds of years ago in Hong Kong. People write their wishes on wishing paper and then tie them to oranges with colourful ribbons. It is believed that if the wishes get stuck in the tree and hang on one of the branches, the wish will come true.

This afternoon, the children wrote their own special wishes on paper and carefully tied them to a branch from a tree. The boys and girls really enjoyed the activity and wrote some fantastic wishes – well done Year 1!
