Flapping Butterflies!

Do you know how to make static electricity? Reception have been investigating using balloons!
The children rubbed balloons on their jumpers and found out that their hair stuck to the balloon, and this is because of the electricity.

Reception discovered that they don’t need to ‘plug’ themselves in and charge up, they could actually make it themselves. They found out that a charge is made by borrowing negative charges from one surface and then when it touches something else it tries to balance out and find a positive charge… tricky I know but Reception did it!

They then designed some ‘Flappy Butterflies’ and used the static in the balloons to make the wings flap.
