We have loved celebrating World Book Day in Year 1 (Dosbarth Fir). The children looked fantastic in their costumes/pyjamas and were really excited to take part in the activities planned. We read the book ‘People Need People’ by Benjamin Zephaniah and the children created some artwork about who they felt they need in their lives. They went on a scavenger hunt looking for different items in books and they enjoyed creating their own bookmarks. The children also participated in a drama session with Mrs Owen from ‘Helen O’Grady’ Drama, where they focused on the book ‘The Cloud Spotter’. It was wonderful to see the children’s creativity and their ideas were so imaginative. Finally, we finished the day by listening to a lovely story that reminded us that we are all ‘smart cookies’, read by one of our parents, Mrs Hopkins. It really was a wonderful day filled with enjoyment and enthusiasm for reading. A huge thank you to Mrs Owen and Mrs Hopkins for your lovely sessions, the children thoroughly enjoyed.
