Wonderful Wishes in Year 1

As part of our learning about Chinese New Year, we have been finding out about the ‘Wishing Tree’ tradition which began hundreds of years ago in Hong Kong. People would write their wishes on special paper and then tie them to oranges with colourful ribbons. It is believed that if the wishes get stuck in the tree and hang on to one of the branches, the wish will come true!

The children couldn’t wait to write their own wishes and thoroughly enjoyed the activity – da iawn Dosbarth Fir!
