Dosbarth Beech had a great time celebrating World Book Day. We learned about the author and poet Benjamin Zephaniah, and created super mind maps to summarise our new learning. We also enjoyed watching him perform some of his poems, and we found them very funny! We read his book ‘We Sang Across the Sea’, which tells the story of the Empire Windrush and the life of the famous singer, Mona Baptiste. Also, we completed lots of World Book Day themed problem solving activities to develop our maths skills. Finally, we enjoyed a brilliant drama session with Mrs. Owen from Helen O’Grady Drama company, based on the story ‘The Cloud Spotter’ by Tom McLaughlin. What a fantastic day we have had celebrating literature, creativity and the importance of reading.
