Today, the children have been learning about what happens to rubbish when the bin lorry takes it away!  They found out that rubbish that cannot be used again goes to landfill. Landfills are bad for the environment as the rubbish breaks down into harmful gases and chemicals.

Firstly, we should reduce our use of materials, especially plastics. Secondly we should reuse any materials that we can and finally, when we can no longer reuse an item or material, we should recycle it.

By recycling, we reduce the amount of rubbish going there, helping to protect the environment.

The children looked at lots of different items before deciding if they could be recycled and sorting them into the correct bins. They did a great job together. Well done everyone!
