Year 6 have been investigating the effects of yeast. They predicted that when you add yeast to a sugar and water solution it causes a chemical reaction to form the gas carbon dioxide. We investigated this theory by putting balloons at the top of bottles with different amounts of yeast and sugar in. We then sat back and observed the reaction. Pupils measured the circumference of each balloon every 2 mins over the period of an hour.
