This week the Year 2 children continued their work on explanation texts. The children worked on rotation through a number of tasks which looked at different features of the genre. The children used their reading skills brilliantly when sequencing the life cycle of a hen. They then worked together to put topic words in alphabetical order and matched definitions to the topic words, and used a glossary well to check if they were correct. They then worked in groups to sequence a jumbled contents page. The children confidently talked about the type of information that could be found on each page. Finally, they enjoyed searching for more explanation texts on Get Epic. They are definitely explanation text experts!
