we have been learning about features of explanation texts in Year 2. This week we focused on the use of contents pages and glossaries. We learned about the way the different pages are organised, and how contents pages are in numerical order, whilst glossaries are in alphabetical order. The children were set the challenge of putting topic words from a glossary in alphabetical order. They then had to use their reading skills to work out which definitions matched which topic word. The children worked together brilliantly and used their problem solving skills effectively.
