Today the Year 2 children enjoyed investigating which materials would be best for making an umbrella. They decided that the best material would be waterproof, strong and flexible. We looked at the differences when water stays on the surface of a material, when it absorbs into it, and when it drops through it. We also discussed fair testing. The children worked out which things we needed to keep the same and which should vary during the investigation.

What a fantastic morning. The children showed some excellent scientific knowledge and understanding. We certainly have lots of budding scientists in Pontlliw!
