The Year 2s have had a great day celebrating World Book Day today. Our focus author was Dr. Seuss. The children enjoyed listening to lots of his famous stories, completed problem solving based on ‘One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, researched the life of Dr. Seuss on Get Epic, learned about lots of characters that he created and explored the Seuseville website. The boys and girls also enjoyed exploring the use of rhyme in Dr. Seuss stories.
In the afternoon we had an author and illustrator session with Jonny Duddle. We read his World Book Day book Gigantosaurus Dino-Spot’, which is a lovely, rhyming story. We learned all about how he creates and develops new characters, before we had a go at sketching new characters for the Gigantosaurus story. We also loved listening to the official World Book Day song by MC Grammar. What a busy but fantastic day we have had!
