Today we were very lucky to read newspaper articles from WW2. The children got to read the exact newspapers that were sold during 1939 and 1945. They were amazed. It was an outstanding opportunity to develop reading skills; but the skills the children got to develop the most were their oracy skills. It sparked a lot of discussion, questions and follow up research, so much so, we had to extend the session to allow extra time for discussion.
