Over the past few weeks, Year 3 have enjoyed mummifying tomatoes after learning about the process of mummification. The children started by weighing their tomatoes pre-mummifcation and making predictions about what they thought would happen to the tomato after being placed in natron (salt and bicarbonate soda) for 2 weeks.

The children are all very excited to take their tomatoes out of the natron next week and see what has happened to the tomatoes appearance and weight. They will then complete the final part of the process by wrapping their tomatoes in bandages.
