What a fun filled day we have had in Year 1 celebrating World Book Day!

We started by undertaking some writing activities linked to our author- Julia Donaldson. The children had lots of fun creating their own characters (based on those from the books) and thinking of key questions that they could write linked to their creations. The children then enjoyed creating board games linked to key characters such as The Snail and The Whale, creating their own imaginary animals online and designing their own book covers.

We then had an incredibly exciting afternoon linked to Expressive Arts, where author Tom Fletcher, set us a ‘What’s in your book challenge?’. Here the children created their very own props (linked to the creatures/ characters they had created) and enjoyed a Drama activity where they had to act out their characters feelings and actions in given scenarios.
