Empathy Day in Year 2

Today was Empathy Day, which we celebrated throughout the whole school. In Year 2, the children participated in lots of exciting activities which helped them to further develop their empathy skills. The day started with a lovely assembly, in which we were introduced to the concept of empathising with others. Miss Jones then read the children the story ‘Molly and the Lighthouse’, and the children participated in a discussion in which they had to empathise with the various characters at different points of the story. We then made our empathy glasses, which we wore throughout the day to help us empathise with other people in class. Finally we completed a role on the wall activity, in which we explored the feelings of different characters from our focus story, and we considered the things that were affecting their emotions. What a super day we have had in Year 2, and we are all empathy experts!
