Year 2 enjoyed celebrating World Book Day today. Our chosen focus author was Dr. Seuss. We started the day by reading an information book about Dr. Seuss. They children were amazed to discover how many characters he had created, and how many of his stories have been turned into films! Lots of fun activities were worked on throughout the day, which required the children to use their reading, problem solving and independent learning skills. The children undertook a book hunt, searching for various characters, objects and types of stories. Problem solving skills were used well when working our different combinations of fish that could be made, based on the book ‘One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish’. Excellent book marks were made by all the children, and they are looking forward to taking them home to use when reading tonight. Finally, the boys and girls enjoyed exploring the Seussville website, which features lots of information, games, stories and videos linked to Dr. Seuss. Also, a very big thank you to all the parents for sending the children in wearing their pyjamas to promote bedtime reading.
