Caerleon Roman Fortress

Year 5 had a fabulous day in Caerleon today. We started at the amphitheatre and barracks site and stood on the very grounds where Roman Soldiers used to fight and sleep 2000 years ago. We then moved on to the museum where we learnt all about Roman Feasts and the slaves that served the upper classes. We also found out they used to make themselves sick at banquets in order to eat more food. We then took a trip to the Roman baths and looked at how the Romans used to relax and unwind, as well as their forward thinking drainage systems. Finally we looked around the wonderful museum and tried on Roman armour. The children learnt so much, had a lot of fun and behaved impeccably throughout the whole day. Well done Year 5 👏🏼
