Year 6 have taken charge of their learning and have decided to develop the vegetable patch in our outdoor area. The discussion came about whilst learning about rationing, propaganda posters (grow your own in WW2) and in maths lessons, learning about area and perimeter.
When we learn, we learn best when we apply our skills to real life situations. So that is exactly what we plan to do…

We have been writing persuasive letters to local garden centres so ask for donations of seeds and gardening tools. Today we posted our letters and took a ‘before’ picture of our vegetable patches.

The next step is to design ideas of what we would like to achieve. Pupils are enthusiastic to begin the project.
