“Dream beautiful dreams, then work hard to make those dreams come true”
Dear Parents / Annwyl Rhieni,
Welcome to Year 3!!
We hope you have all had an enjoyable summer holiday and that you are ready for the busy year that lies ahead. Please find below some useful information that you will need:
P.E days for our class are on a Friday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor). Please ensure that appropriate P.E. kit is worn/brought to school on these days (navy jogging bottoms, white t-shirt and trainers).
Maths homework will be allocated to the children’s Active Learn account on a Friday. Mental maths books will be sent home weekly. Children will need to complete one test per week. Please ensure mental maths books are brought back into school on a Friday. Spelling is now distributed on a Thursday and test is on following Thursday.
From September, there will be a new online payment system. All payments to school, e.g. for dinner money, trips, breakfast and after school clubs etc will need to be made via the sQuid system. If you haven’t already created your child’s online account, please do so using your child’s unique registration number and security code that was sent home. Please note, from September, the cost of school dinners will be £2.40 per day.
Please ensure that your child has a healthy snack and drink for morning snack time. Alternatively, we also provide a variety of fruit for the children to purchase at play time. This can be paid for on a daily basis at 20p or a weekly basis at £1.00. Children will be responsible for purchasing their own fruit from the Fruit Tuck Shop.
We encourage children to bring water into class. Please ensure that water bottles are labelled with their name and is taken home on a daily basis to be cleaned.
The School Day
Children will be expected to line up in the junior yard before 8.50 a.m. and be collected from the infant yard at 3.20 p.m.
Your child will need to bring their book bag/reading books to school each day. We encourage independent reading every day, however we do aim to listen to each child read twice a week.
Remember, we will be using class Dojo to keep you in the loop this year! We’ll share photos from class, important updates and wonderful moments. If you haven’t already done so, please sign up to class Dojo using the parent code you were given during the transition meeting.
During the autumn term, the topic we will be studying will be Ancient Egypt. Our aim is that pupil voice, which is at the core of our curriculum, will completely motivate and excite pupils to become independent learners.
We are very excited about our topic and I’m sure your children will share in our enthusiasm.
Spring Term: Light & Sound
Summer Term: The Rainforest
Finally, we look forward to a happy, fun and productive year with you and your children. Should you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to come and see either of us after school.
Thank you for your continued support,
