Year 6 were so excited to come in to school to celebrate their last World Book Day at Pontlliw. Today, they were in for such a special treat. We were lucky enough to spend the afternoon with Helen and Thomas Docherty – famous author and illustrator, living in Swansea.
Year 6 have been studying their latest picture book, Pirate Nell’s Tale to Tell, full of funny rhymes, creativity and imagination. This afternoon they looked at Thomas’ sketches and listened to the detail that is included into all his illustrations before having a go at sketching the character Captain Gnash themselves! What a lovely day.
