This morning we used the local park to discover that nature can help with our mental well-being. The children re-called their knowledge of trees from their days in Year 2 and armed with a handy guide, they set about identifying all the trees in Pontlliw Park. We talked about the calming effect nature can have on us as human beings, and just by looking at and studying trees, we can take our mind off our problems and worries. We did exactly that at lunchtime when we used our outdoor shelter in the picnic area to look out into the pond area to see and hear the rain bouncing off the leaves as we ate! A very calming experience.
