Rectangle Rhumba!

Dosbarth Cherry Blossom have been learning dances to help them to learn all about 2D shapes. Today they enjoyed dancing the rectangle rhumba. They practiced drawing the shape with their hands in the air and then with their feet on the floor. They sang along while they danced the rectangle rhumba. “Do the rectangle rhumba! Long step to the right. then a little step forward. Long step to the left. Then it’s back we go, to the shape we know.” Amazing dancing everyone!

The children also played “Copy me” rhythm game. First we looked at different ways that we could play the drum. If we used our fingers gently on the drum it sounded like raindrops. If we put our hands on the edge of the drum and tapped it, we could make a different sound and if we used our whole hand, it make a loud booming noise. Then the children took turns to make a sound pattern for their friends to copy.
