World Book Day in Year 1
Tagged Tags: ,

What a wonderful day we have had celebrating world book day today. We started the day with some story time where we shared and listened to some of our favourite stories. We then had a class vote on our favourite books and the children created pictograms and bar graphs of their results.

After play, we were treated to the wonderful author Helen Docherty, who read her story ‘The Screen Thief’ to the children. She involved the children in a drama session where they recreated different scenes from the story, which they really loved and all joined in enthusiastically. She also showed the children how to draw the main character ‘The Snaffle’ which the children then had a go at drawing themselves – their Snaffles really were amazing!

This afternoon, the children had a go at some creative writing and wrote some fantastic descriptive sentences inspired by ‘The Screen Thief’ – well done Year 1!
